— The Breath

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention — on purpose, in the present moment, without judgement. It sounds deceptively simple. And yet, for most of us, the present moment is the place we spend the least time. Mindfulness practice is an invitation to come home.

What mindfulness offers

At its heart, mindfulness offers a different relationship with experience — one in which we are no longer at the mercy of every thought or emotion, but can observe them with a little more space and equanimity.

Extensive research supports its effectiveness in reducing anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and stress-related illness. More than this, many people report a deepening of presence, joy, and connection in their everyday lives.

My approach to mindfulness teaching is warm and pragmatic. We start from where you are — not from some idealised state of perfect stillness. All experience is valid material for practice.

Sessions can be offered individually as part of a therapeutic programme, or as standalone mindfulness instruction for those wanting to develop or deepen a personal practice.

Forms of practice I offer

• Mindfulness for Stress and Health Management

An 8-week evidence-based programme developed by Breathworks, a Mindfulness methodology endorsed by The British Pain Society and the British Medical Association, and widely implemented across various NHS trusts in the UK. This approach works with formal and informal meditation, body scans, mindful movement and building Mindfulness tools and strategies to integrate into daily life, to fundamentally shift our relationship with stress, pain and difficulty.

• Breath & Body Awareness

Learning to use the breath as an anchor — always available, always present. Simple, portable practices that can be woven into daily life to interrupt anxious spirals and return to a state of regulated calm.

• Mindful Self-Compassion

Many of us are far kinder to others than to ourselves. This practice cultivates the same warmth and understanding towards ourselves that we naturally extend to someone we care for, particularly during difficult moments.

• Nature-Based Mindfulness

Taking contemplative practice outdoors. The natural world offers extraordinary support for mindful awareness — from the rustle of leaves to the texture of bark, nature invites us into sensory presence with great gentleness.

Who this is for

Mindfulness practice is available to anyone — no prior experience is necessary, and you do not need to be in crisis to benefit. It is for those who feel perpetually rushed, overwhelmed, or disconnected. For those who want to sleep better, think more clearly, or simply feel more at home in their own skin.

It is also a powerful complement to psychotherapy or equine-assisted work, helping to integrate insights gained in sessions into the texture of daily life.

In that space is our freedom.”
